Who are you?
We are Oscar and Sabrina, we are the creators of Sweet Ada dessert, which is a multilayer cake with flaky pastry, that has milk, cream, and chocolate shavings on top. We want to offer an experience and share our family recipe with the community.
How did you get to where you are today with your business?
We lived in Tampa and took a leap of faith and moved to Orlando for new opportunities. We both come from families of entrepreneurs and having our own business is something we have been wanting to do. So, in 2015 we took the chance of starting a business and decided to focus on what we knew best, food.
Has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you have had to overcome?
It has been a challenge with the constant evolution of our business as we learned more and got inspired by more things. Another one has been the fact that the Sweet Ada is new and different, it is like other things but unique in its own right.
What do you think sets you apart from others?
You cannot find our product anywhere else in the world, its similar to a lot of things but its unique. It is also versatile, it can be eaten any time of day and is also not too sweet for a dessert.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Sabrina: My background is medical engineering, which I have a masters in, before this I designed spinal implants and actually have been published a few times.
Oscar: I’m a musician which was my plan A , which obviously didn’t work out so I went for my plan B which was finance.
What village do you live in?
Bridgewater
What do you love about Horizon West?
We love the family-oriented development and the green spaces as well as how close everything is.
What are your hopes for it as it continues to build out over the next 5-10 years?
We’d love to see more local offerings and are super excited for the growth to come!
Marketing can be expensive and without the power of a franchise or corporation behind them, mom & pop sized local entrepreneurs depend on locals loving on them! Please take a moment to connect with Lake Speer Sidewalk Market (evolving soon to Created in HW) on social and you'll be sure to have future event info show up in your feed so you can come out and support them in person in addition to here on virtual Main Street!
