It would be my pleasure to stitch up something awesome for you today!
Embroidered Dish Towels with a dash of snark. The Domesticated House Cat series has a sweet vintage look but a definite modern attitude. Dish Towels are a fun and useful gift for new home-owners, a new room-mate, or for anyone that has a kitchen, really!
All of my towels have been stitched with bleach-safe threads, and while the towels will shrink in the Washer and Dryer, the embroidery will not color-bleed, pucker or fade. For longest lasting results, wash in hot water, and use the dryer and bleach sparingly.
Make your suitcase easy to spot with a "Love That Journey For Me" tag (or add to any bag or backpack when you feel a "little bit Alexis").
Use the "EWW", "WHAT", and "DON'T" Message Flags as a floral arrangement accent, photo prop, cake topper, potted plant pick, or party favor. Durable and reusable! Tuck a gift card or a special note in the back pocket of the Herb Ertlinger Winery Bottle Tag Ornament and delight your favorite fan!
Who are you?
My name is MaryKate Noeske and my company is Plum 9 Studio Embroidery, I call it salty and sweet items for modern living and giving.
How did you get to where you are today with your business?
I started Plum 9 as a side hobby in 2015 while I was working my fulltime job as a costume technician for cirque du soleil and then when the COVID19 pandemic hit and everything came to a screeching halt and I wasn’t working anymore. So, I turned my hobby into my fulltime venture.
Has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you have had to overcome?
I don’t think any small business owner says its easy. I am the sole proprietor so I have to do everything that goes along with keeping it running myself and it all weighs on my shoulders but it’s also rewarding.
What do you think sets you apart from others?
All my designs are unique compared to what you can find elsewhere. I may find inspiration from something, but I also make sure to put my own twist on them such as funny sayings. I also take the time to design my products to be good quality and well and thoughtfully made. I want them to be user friendly and last, I always make sure to research the correct care instructions for my items and share that with my customers.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people peg me as an introvert which is completely true but in 2008 I joined a taiko group which is a Japanese drumming and it’s all group work and performances but it’s also very fun and stress relieving.
What village do you live in?
I live in the village of Bridgewater!
What do you love about Horizon West?
I love all the nature and wildlife. I love walking and biking throughout my neighborhood and my connecting neighborhoods.
What are your hopes for it as it continues to build out over the next 5-10 years?
I hope that we continue to have the sense of community we do have and I’ m excited for more people to join in the fun!
Marketing can be expensive and without the power of a franchise or corporation behind them, mom & pop sized local entrepreneurs depend on locals loving on them!
