Your favorite family recipe can be engraved in this custom cutting board or create a unique gift by adding a family's monogram!
Adorn your walls or give a beautiful personalized gift with any of these unique wooden pieces.
Who are you?
I’m Michelle Charlotten. At Aqua n Gold we create engraved wood and acrylic personalized items that are perfect for home or gifts.
How did you get to where you are today with your business?
I’m actually a full-time engineer and like to use my free time to work more with my hands and nurture my creative side. Aqua n Gold actually started as a blog/webpage where I featured DIY projects and soon after I opened my Etsy shop!
Has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, it has been a work in progress. Through the Lake Speer Market we were able to figure out what products sold the best which helped me see the possibility Aqua n Gold had as a business before opening an Etsy shop.
What do you think sets you apart from others?
I love customizing and working with clients every step of the way to make sure they get exactly what they want, which is something you don’t usually get from other shops that offer similar items.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am completely self-taught in woodworking. It piqued my interest once and I went for it. I started with YouTube tutorials and bought the tools and let myself be scared and make mistakes but was able to accomplish it.
What village do you live in?
I live in Hickory Nut village!
What do you love about Horizon West?
I love that this is a close-knit planned community and all the events we have like the Lake Speer Sidewalk Market!
What are your hopes for it as it continues to build out over the next 5-10 years?
I’d love to see a permanent market place for artisans to create a community and create a love for the arts.
Anything else you would like to share?
I love what I do, it is challenging sometimes, considering I work full time and have a family. But I’m so passionate about what I do and love to bring a little piece of joy to people to have the perfect thing for them to give to their friends and loved ones.
Marketing can be expensive and without the power of a franchise or corporation behind them, mom & pop sized local entrepreneurs depend on locals loving on them! Please take a moment to connect with Lake Speer Sidewalk Market (evolving soon to Created in HW) on social and you'll be sure to have future event info show up in your feed so you can come out and support them in person in addition to here on virtual Main Street!
